Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you contact us or use this website, why we use it, and your rights.

Last updated: 23 October 2026

Who we are

Janos Furniture designs, makes and installs bespoke fitted furniture, based in Watford, Hertfordshire. We are responsible for your personal information (the "data controller").

Questions about this policy or your information: email janosfurniture@gmail.com or call +44 7833 712268.

What information we collect

  • When you ask for a quote or contact us — your name, phone number, email address, area or postcode, details about your project, and any photos or measurements you send us.
  • When you become a customer — your address, the design and order details, payment records and our messages with you.
  • When you visit this website — our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to keep the site running and secure.

We do not collect special category information (such as health data) and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

How the quote form works

When you press "Send enquiry", your details and any photos you add are sent securely through our website host (Cloudflare) straight to our business email inbox (Gmail, provided by Google). Our website does not keep a separate copy. Photos are reduced in size on your device before they are sent. If you message us on WhatsApp instead, your message is handled by WhatsApp (Meta) as well as by us.

How we use your information, and why we're allowed to

  • To reply to your enquiry, arrange a design visit and prepare a quote — because you asked us to (steps before entering into a contract).
  • To make, deliver and install your furniture, take payment and provide our warranty — to carry out our contract with you.
  • To keep accounts and records — because the law requires it (for example, tax records).
  • To keep this website working and secure, and to photograph finished work — in our legitimate interests. We only publish photos of your furniture with your permission, and never show you, your family or anything that identifies your home or address.

We don't send marketing messages unless you've asked us to, and we never sell your information.

Who we share it with

Only where needed to do the job: the services we use to communicate and run the business (such as WhatsApp, email and our website host), suppliers or specialist trades working on your project (for example, a delivery address), our accountant, and authorities where the law requires it. Some of these providers may store information outside the UK; where they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don't go ahead — up to 12 months, in case you come back to us.
  • Customer and order records — for at least 6 years for tax and accounting purposes, and for as long as our warranty on your furniture applies, so we can honour it.

Cookies

We advertise on Google. With your permission, this website uses Google Ads cookies to tell us which of our ads led to an enquiry, so we spend our advertising budget on what works. When you first visit, we ask whether you accept these cookies. Nothing is loaded from Google, and no cookies are set, unless you click "Accept".

  • What Google receives: that someone who clicked our ad visited the site or sent an enquiry, with technical details such as your browser and an ad click identifier. Your name, phone number, email and message are never sent to Google.
  • Who provides it: Google Ireland Limited. See how Google uses cookies in advertising.
  • How long: Google Ads cookies last up to 90 days.
  • Changing your mind: use "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page.

We use no other cookies for advertising or analytics. Your cookie choice itself is remembered in your browser so we don't ask on every page.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct anything that's wrong or incomplete;
  • delete your information, or stop or limit how we use it (unless we must keep it, for example for tax records or an active warranty);
  • object to how we use it, or move it to another organisation.

To make a request, email janosfurniture@gmail.com. We'll respond within one month. There's no charge in most cases.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, 0303 123 1113.
